Mal di Ventre Island and the Catalano rock are a true “sanctuary of nature”.
Around Mal di Ventre Island, the only remnant of an extensive granite outcrop that in very ancient times bordered the entire western coast of Sardinia, a Zone A – of integral protection and a Zone B – of general protection have been delimited.
Around the Catalano rock, a volcanic dyke originating from a secondary emission centre of basaltic lava, almost black in colour, extending over a radius of about 1000 metres and an area of about 320 hectares, lies the other of the two Zones A – of integral protection of the Marine Protected Area.
