A small wader that nests on the sandy beaches of the Sinis. Its population is in sharp decline due to human disturbance during the breeding season (May–July). The MPA participates in the LIFE ChoPlover Project for the protection of the species.

In nesting zones, access outside marked areas and the presence of unleashed dogs is prohibited.
